Junior Church

Who is Junior Church?

The Junior Church consists of children at primary school or younger. Secondary school children attend the youth group. Currently, there are about 50 children in Junior Church, and there are 13 leaders and more than 15 helpers.

The children are placed in groups according to age and school year.

  • Creche: too small for the other groups!
  • Bubbles: pre-school and reception year
  • Splashers: primary years 1 and 2
  • XStreamers 1: primary years 3 and 4
  • XStreamers 2: primary years 5 and 6

Each group is led by two adults. All leaders and helpers are CRB checked to meet the standards of our Child Protection Policy.

When does Junior Church meet?

Junior Church meets each Sunday morning. The main worship starts at 10.30 a.m. Junior Church children leave at approximately 10.50 a.m. to attend their group sessions.

What does Junior Church do?

Junior Church uses LIGHT, a modern and age appropriate programme of bible-based sessions produced by Scripture Union. Our aim for the children is

  • to develop skills to explore the bible creatively,
  • to discover how to follow Jesus at home and at school,
  • to encourage growth in faith.

The aims are achieved through play activities, stories, games, drama, craft, bible reading, and other exciting methods.
